Mr Ed Sideso MS FRCS
I was a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospital since 1992 and have recently moved to Frimley Park Hospital. I am a member of the Vascular Society and Vein Specialist’s Venous Forum. I have been treating patients with Varicose Veins for over 20 years. In the local area I was a leader in using ultrasound examination to plan accurate treatment for varicose veins. After performing over 6000 set of varicose vein strippings, I felt that more modern treatments were emerging which held the hope of less pain and better long term success for the patient. In 2000 I was one of the team of surgeons to bring foam treatment to the UK. I was one of the first surgeons to introduce the closurefast VNUS
technique to the country and the first to perform it under local anaesthetic. I have an extensive experience of over 400 VNUS and Laser treatments and 900 patients with foam.
Rachel Ford, Sonographer
I qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer in 1998 and subsequently returned to university to gain a postgraduate certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging in 2000. Later I was given the opportunity to specialise in Ultrasound and qualified as a Sonographer in 2002. After five years working full time in the NHS I took up the post of Senior Lecturer at London South Bank University and in 2008 I became Course Director for Ultrasound for four years. During this time I developed and implemented a vascular module as an addition to the existing syllabus and gained my teaching qualification. Alongside my academic career I maintained my vascular skills in both the NHS and private sector. I have been working with Mr Rutter since 2013 performing venous and arterial scans and assisting with venous procedures. As well as my specialist interest in vascular ultrasound I continue to gain experience in abdominal and gynaecological ultrasound on a weekly basis.
